Anywheel has indeed come a long way. It started its bike-sharing operation in Singapore with less than 1,000 bikes. Today, Anywheel has up to 15,000 two-wheelers on the road!
I enjoy cycling. However, I don’t cycle frequent enough to warrant purchasing a bike. Renting a bike is the best alternative I have. As I have shared in an article on managing personal finance, minimising expenses is crucial. Anywheel is one sure way you can save money while renting a bike in Singapore.
Really? So, how much does the rental of Anywheel bikes cost?
Yes, really. The rate starts at $1 per 30 minutes. That works out to be $2 for an hour. It is much cheaper than $8 to $12 per hour you need to pay for rental at typical bicycle shops!
If you ride often, you may consider getting Anywheel Pass. The pass costs $6.90 and $9.90 for 7 and 30 days, respectively. With Anywheel Pass, you can ride for free for the first 30 minutes. After which, the rental fee will be $0.50 for every 30 minutes.
Sure, I’m convinced. What’s next?
The app. You will need to download the app from either Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
Enter your mobile number and e-mail address. There you go! You are now ready to unlock Anywheel bicycles.
Use the integrated map within the app to find the available bicycles around you. You may find the bikes at the bicycle parking lots near a bus stop or MRT station. The app will show the available bikes in green dots.
Once you find the bike, tap the ‘Scan to Ride’ button. You may then scan the QR Code on the bike. Ta-dah! You can now ride your bike.
But, wait? How much is the deposit I need to pay?
None. Yes, there is no deposit required for using Anywheel bikes. Unlike typical bike rental shops, you don’t have to give out your IC number too!
Okay, there is no deposit. How do I make payment then?
Once you have saved your debit or credit card details in the app, you can then proceed to purchase Anywheel credits. You can top up from as little as $10 up to $200. Anywheel will then deduct the credits at the end of each journey.
Oh. I’ve finished using Anywheel bikes. What should I do now?
Park your bike at any designated bicycles parking slots. Do remember to lock the bike. You may locate the lock on top of the back wheel. To complete the process, do scan the QR Code of the parking slot with your Anywheel app. That’s it!
I have tried to provide all the information you may need to get your first ride with Anywheel started. However, should you need to know more about Anywheel bikes, do feel free to visit their website. Here is the link for your ease of access!
